Ratt - Discografia

Ratt es una banda estadounidense de hard rock, que vio sus inicios en 1978 bajo el nombre de Mickey Ratt en San Diego, California. Sus fundadores fueron Stephen Pearcy, Robin Crosby, Juan Croucier Este bajista venía de la banda Dokken y prefirió probar nuevos rumbos con Ratt antes que seguir con Dokken que se perfilaba para lanzar su muy reconocido álbum Tooth and Nail, Boby Blotzer y Jake E. Lee, quien sería sustituido por Warren DeMartini.

En 1982, el nombre de la banda se simplifica a Ratt, y graban un modesto EP que incluyó un gran hit como You Think You’re Tough + un cover de Aerosmith «Walking the Dog» que los lanzaría a firmar un contrato importante con Atlantic Records no sin antes (como muchas bandas glam) probar suerte en Japón. Su primer álbum «Out of the cellar», de 1984, llegó al Top Ten en EE.UU y contenía lo que fue su primer gran éxito «Round and Round». En 1985 lanzan «Invasion of your privacy», una mezcla de ritmos dinámicos y coros pegajosos con letras sencillas, que fue multi-platino con singles como «Lay It Down» y «You’re In Love». En 1986 lanzan «Dancing undercover», de corte más pop en el que se exploran nuevos sonidos y alternativas y en 1988 editan su álbum «Reach for the sky» del cual se destacaron dos sencillos; I want a Woman y Way Cool Jr.

Su penúltima grabación como banda en 1990 fue «Detonator», cambiando a ritmos más duros, poco usuales para Ratt, con propuestas muy representativas como Lovin’ You’s a Dirty Job, Shame Shame Shame, Givin’Yourself Away en las que se destacó la muy buena versatilidad de Warren DeMartini en la guitarra rítmica y líder. En 1991 Robin Crosby abandonó la agrupación, para que poco tiempo después Stephen Pearcy tomara la misma decisión para formar la banda Arcade que incluyó en su formación al guitarrista Frankie Wilsex quien fuera parte de la desaprecida banda Seahags que se diluyó tras la muerte por sobredosis del bajista y en la bateria el gran Fred Coury, reconocido baterista de Cinderella. Esto provocó definitivamente la ruptura de la banda, que se reunió en 1999 nuevamente para realizar un último intento con el que produjeron el álbum autotiltulado Ratt con la participación de Bobby Blotzer en la batería, Warren de Martini en las guitarras, Stephen Pearcy en la voz y Robbie Crane en el bajo, reemplazando a Juan Croucier. De esta producción se destacan Over The Edege, Luv Sick para cerrar el ciclo de una de las bandas más destacadas del Glam Rock ochentero. Tras la nueva separación y rompimiento de la banda, el puesto en la voz de Stephen Pearcy fue tomado por el cantante Jizzy Pearl, ex vocalista de la agrupación Love/Hate y quien también tuviera un paso fugaz por la banda L.A. Guns en reemplazo de su vocalista Phil Lewis.

El 6 de junio del 2002, el guitarrista Robin Crosby pierde su larga lucha contra su adicción a las drogas y fallece de sida. Actualmente la formación se ha reunido con tres de sus miembros originales, Stephen Pearcy, Warren DeMartini y Bobby Blotzer y girando.

La historia del Rock recordará por siempre a Ratt como uno de sus grandes exponentes.
